The 51st UPR Working Group is around the corner!
The UPR Working Group will hold its 51st session from 19 January 2026 - 30 January 2026
The 13 states under Review this session are Micronesia, Lebanon, Mauritania, Nauru, Rwanda, Nepal, Saint Lucia, Oman, Austria, Australia, Georgia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Sao Tomé and Principe. The UPR Working Group sessions will take place at the Palais des Nations, United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland, and will be broadcast on UN Web TV. UPR Info will provide updates on the Working Group sessions via X (formerly Twitter) and Bluesky. The schedule for the 51st session can be found here.
Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with ECOSOC status may submit requests for in-person side events at Palais des Nations in Geneva during the UPR Working Group sessions. The online platform to request an NGO side event for the 51st session of the UPR Working Group opened on Friday, 19 December 2025, at 12 noon (Geneva time), and will close on Tuesday, 6 January 2026, at 12 noon (Geneva time).
The requests should be submitted through the online registration platform EVENTS, which is accessible at this link. For a refresher on the major changes provided in the online platform EVENTS and the creation of NGOs' accounts therein, please consult the Technical Guidelines for the creation of NGOs' accounts in the EVENTS platform.
UPR Info's work: Pre-sessions
From the 26 to 28 of November 2025 UPR Info hosted the Pre-sessions for countries under review during the 51st Working Group session. Various key stakeholders, such as civil society organisations and national human rights institutions, were invited to discuss key human rights concerns within their respective countries and propose recommendations to Geneva-based State representatives.
