Event: Sharing good practices in UPR implementation

As human rights and sustainable development agendas become increasingly interconnected, the implementation of UPR recommendations has emerged as a critical priority. With over 90% of Sustainable Development Goal targets linked to human rights obligations, strengthening follow-up, coordination, and monitoring mechanisms is essential to ensuring that no one is left behind.

On Thursday, 2 April 2026 (13:30–15:00 CET), UNDP and UPR Info, with the support of OHCHR and the co-sponsoring of the Permanent Missions of Malaysia, Morocco and Finland, are convening an event at the Palais des Nations (Room XV) and online to explore practical approaches to implementing UPR recommendations.

Held in the margins of the GANHRI Annual Meeting, this event offers a timely opportunity to reflect on how the UPR can serve as a practical tool for advancing both human rights and sustainable development priorities.

Bringing together Member States, National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs), UN entities, civil society organisations and development partners, the event will provide a platform for sharing experiences and fostering peer learning across the UPR cycle.

The discussion will highlight UNDP’s UPR+ approach, which supports countries in translating recommendations into concrete national action. By strengthening reporting and follow-up mechanisms, improving stakeholder coordination, and leveraging innovative tools—including digital tracking systems—UPR+ enhances accountability and measurable impact, while reinforcing national ownership and engagement with donors and development partners.
