Highest number of recommendations made at session 19

A total of 2,829 recommendations were made during the 19th session of the UPR Working Group (May 2014). It represents the highest number of recommendations ever made during one session.

155 States took the floor during this session on Albania, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Costa Rica, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dominica, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Nicaragua, Norway, Portugal and Qatar.

The average number of recommendations received by each State under Review was 202, which is also the record so far. From the "recommending States" perspective, each made an average of 2.6 recommendations to each State under Review.

The percentage of specific recommendations (category 5 in our database) was 34.7%, the highest of the second cycle.

The three main issues raised by delegations were women’s rights, international instruments, and the rights of the child.
