Red card to racism: a call to celebrate diversity

As the FIFA World Cup once again brings to light the racist remarks and acts that many racialized people face in their daily lives, Mona M’Bikay, Executive Director of UPR Info, calls for greater awareness of deeply rooted racial bias and for stronger efforts to dismantle it.

In an opinion piece published in the Tribune de Genève, she stresses that combating racism requires concrete measures for prevention, protection and awareness-raising. Through the Universal Periodic Review, States are regularly encouraged to strengthen their policies against racial discrimination and to promote more inclusive societies.
