New version of the draft decision on the follow-up to the HRC Review on the UPR

A new version of the draft decision on the follow-up to the Human Rights Council (HRC) Review on the Universal Periodic Review was circulated today Friday 10 June.

This new version follows the one presented during an informal consultation on 27th May during which States and other stakeholders discussed the different issues pending from the HRC Review in relation to the second cycle of the UPR: timetable for each Working Group session, the order of review, the list of speakers, the general guidelines for the three documents and the Funds. This draft is meant to be adopted by the HRC at its current 17th session.

This new version maintains the same order of review as during the first cycle and extends the Working Group review to 3,5 hours but does not specify whether the State under Review would have ten minutes out of the thirty additional ones.

States and other stakeholders are holding this afternoon a second informal consultation to discuss this new version and a new option for the Working Group timetables.
