Seminar on the role of "Recommending States" at UPR on 2 October 2014

In the view of the UPR 20th Working Group session to be held from 27 October to 7 November 2014, UPR Info, with the support of the Permanent Mission of the Netherlands and with the participation of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, is organising a seminar on the role of “Recommending States” at the Universal Periodic Review on Thursday 2nd October in the Palais des Nations.

The aim of this seminar is to equip Permanent Missions human rights experts with tools and knowledge on how to successfully engage in the Working Group session. The seminar will cover the practical aspect of the participation such as registering on the list of speakers and submitting advance questions as well as share best practices on most efficient UPR recommendations.

The programme will be the following:
10:00-10:15: Opening
10:15-11:15: Practical participation in UPR Working Groups
11:15-11:30: Coffee break
11:30-12:15: How to follow up recommendations from one cycle to another
12:15-12:45: The main UPR tool: the recommendations
12:45-13:00: Questions + Feedback
