UPR Info delivers statement for general debate on Item 6

On the occasion of the 42nd Session of the Human Rights Council, UPR Info delivered a statement for the General Debate under Item 6. UPR Info's statement focused on the role that parliaments can play in the implementation and monitoring of the UPR recommendations. As more than 50 percent of UPR recommendations require or involve parliamentary action, UPR Info highlights the key position of parliaments in the allocation of funds or in reviewing legislation with a Human Rights-based approach. UPR Info also encourages States to establish human rights committees within parliaments and to involve them in the National Mechaism on Implementation Reporting Follow-Up.
