UPR Info announces new Board Member

Following UPR Info’s General Assembly last week (26 September 2023), we are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Gianni Magazzeni as new board member.  Gianni will join four other board members to provide UPR Info with strategic counsel. 

Over the past 39 years in the United Nations system, Gianni has engaged national governments, UN agencies, civil society organizations and other development and human rights actors towards realizing the goal of promoting human rights. From 2017 to April 2023, he served as Chief of the Universal Periodic Review Branch in OHCHR. He contributed to the development of tools and the dissemination of many good practices to make the UPR an effective mechanism to domesticate international human rights law.

We are excited to have Gianni assume this role and to help strengthen UPR Info strategic engagement and its work to promote human rights through the UPR.
