UPR Info participates in training of journalists from Nigeria, Chad and Senegal

UPR Info’s Executive director, Roland Chauville, was invited on 23 October to take part in a workshop for journalists organised by Gmedia Center in the framework of the UPR 17th session.

The workshop “Media Empowerment on Human Rights” is currently taking place in Geneva, from 20th to 30th October 2013. 8 journalists from Nigeria, 8 from Senegal and 3 from Chad were selected to participate in the workshop. The participants are attending and reporting on the UPR session of their own country and participating in session and panel discussions to improve their awareness about human rights and the United Nations.

Mr. Chauville was invited to present to journalists the UPR process, its origins, and functioning. Organised in the form of a Q&A exercise, the presentation touched upon the added value of the UPR and the role of journalists in making the UPR an effective mechanism to promote and protect human rights.
