HRC 37 side event: Human Rights in Switzerland, Overview of the 3rd UPR

We have the pleasure to invite you to the discussion on « Human Rights in Switzerland : Overview of the 3rd UPR » that will take place on the side of the 37th session of the Human Rights Council on

15 March 2018 – 13:00-14:00 – in Room XXI of the Palais des Nations

The 3rdUniversal Periodic Review (UPR) of Switzerland was held on 9 November 2017. Switzerland, although a good student in the human rights field and often congratulated for this, has received about 250 recommendations from other States. Several recommendations made on this 3rd UPR had already been formulated and accepted during the previous UPR cycle.
The 3rd national report of Switzerland was elaborated with open consultations with stakeholders who presented also their own contributions. On the basis of the recommandations finaly accepted (and rejected) by Switzerland and the submissions made by the Swiss civil society we will discuss what the Swiss Confederation should undertake to fulfill its commitments and to keep the follow-up process of the UPR as an open dialogue.
