UPR Info launches new Guide for recommending States at UPR

UPR Info is pleased to announce the launch of a new publication on the role of recommending States at the UPR. Supported by the Australian Government, this guide will share practical information on how to engage in the process as well as best practices in terms of drafting specific and action-oriented recommendations and following-up the implementation from one cycle to another. It will provide diplomats with useful tools and resources to ensure an effective engagement at all stages of the UPR.

The Guide will be launched on Monday 7 September during an event hosted by the Permanent Mission of Australia and organised by the International Service for Human Rights, the Permanent Missions of Australia, Paraguay, and Namibia, and UPR Info. Also marking the launch of the book Human Rights and the Universal Periodic Review: Rituals and Ritualism, edited by Professor Hilary Charlesworth and Dr Emma Larking, and to which UPR Info contributed, this event will provide an opportunity to identify challenges to effective NGO participation and collaboration with States and to consider possible solutions.

UPR Info's President, Miloon Kothari, will be presenting our new publication as well as our role in facilitating civil society-state cooperation and dialogue.

Registration to attend the event can be done at events.geneva@dfat.gov.au.
