New Webinar: Optimizing UPR Other Stakeholders Reports
The deadline for stakeholder submissions for the 4th Working Group session is on October 11th, 2023.
UPR Info, organises free webinars (in English and Spanish) to provide civil society representatives with key information and guidance to submit "Other Stakeholders Reports" to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR). These online sessions aim at sharing technical information, online tools, and good practices in the drafting and dissemination process of UPR reports.
The English webinar is organised with the participation of MindFreedom Ghana and the Spanish one with IPRODES Peru.
Civil society organisations, NHRI and other associations are encouraged to submit a report on the human rights situation of their country. Upon submission, the OHCHR will compile all of the civil society reports into a single summary report.
By submitting an "Other Stakeholders Report," civil society can
- Provide first hand information and an analytical overview of the human rights situation in the State under Review
- Suggest specific and action-oriented recommendations to States
This webinar is open to all the stakeholders, in particular to human rights defenders, CSOs and national human rights institutions from the States under Review during the 46th UPR Working Group (New Zealand, Afghanistan, Chile, Viet Nam, Uruguay, Yemen, Vanuatu, Republic of North Macedonia, Comoros, Slovakia, Eritrea, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, Cambodia).
The webinar will integrate the new guidelines published by the OHCHR, which reiterates the importance of focusing on the implementation of accepted recommendations and developments of the human rights situation in a State under review. Civil society is encouraged to include information on the follow-up of the previous review in their written contributions.
