New Webinar: Optimizing UPR Other Stakeholders Reports

webinar

The deadline for stakeholder submissions for the 47th UPR Working Group session is on April 8th, 2024.

UPR Info organises two free webinars (in English and French) to provide civil society representatives with key information and guidance to submit "Other Stakeholders Reports" to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).

These online sessions aim to share technical information, online tools, and good practices in the drafting and dissemination process of UPR reports.

Webinar in English:

Friday, 23 February 2024 at 9:00  CET

Webinar in French:

Monday, 26 February 2024 at 11:00 CET

The English webinar is organised with the participation of Pathways for Women’s Empowerment and Development/ Integrated Agricultural Training Center (PaWEDIATC)  and the French one with Coalition Nationale des Associations et ONG en Faveur de l'Enfant (CONAFE Sénégal).

Civil society organisations, NHRI and other associations are encouraged to submit a report on the human rights situation of their country. Upon submission, the OHCHR will compile all of the civil society reports into a single summary report.

This webinar is open to all the stakeholders, in particular to human rights defenders, CSOs and national human rights institutions from the States under Review during the 47th UPR Working Group (Norway, Albania, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Portugal, Bhutan, Dominica, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Brunei Darussalam, Costa Rica, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Qatar, Nicaragua).

The webinar will integrate the new guidelines published by the OHCHR, which reiterates the importance of focusing on the implementation of accepted recommendations and developments of the human rights situation in a State under review. Civil society is encouraged to include information on the follow-up of the previous review in their written contributions.

By submitting an "Other Stakeholders Report," civil society can

  • Provide first-hand information and an analytical overview of the human rights situation in the State under Review
  • Suggest specific and action-oriented recommendations to States
