UPR Info delivers statement for general debate on Item 6

On the occasion of the 40th Session of the Human Rights Council, UPR Info delivers a statement for the general debate on Item 6. UPR Info focuses on themes relating to women's rights in light of the recently observed International Women's Day. In particular, the importance of specificity in recommendations and of adopting right bearers, rather than victimizing, language in law and practice is stressed. UPR Info also encourages States to engage in multi-stakeholder dialogue for an integrated approach to the UPR process and to report after adoption on measures taken to effect gender equality.
