Seminar on role of recommending States at UPR on 20 October 2015

In view of the Universal Periodic Review 23rd Working Group session to be held 2-13 November 2015, UPR Info, with the support of the Permanent Mission of the Netherlands and with the participation of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, is organising its second seminar on the role of Recommending States at the UPR on Tuesday 20 October, room IX, Palais des Nations.

The aim of this seminar is to equip Permanent Missions human rights experts with tools and knowledge on how to successfully engage in the Working Group session. The seminar will cover the practical aspect of the participation such as registering on the list of speakers and submitting advance questions as well as share best practices on drafting precise recommendations.

The programme will be the following:
- 10:00-10:15: Opening
- 10:15-11:30: Practical participation in UPR Working Groups
- 11:30-11:45: Coffee break
- 11:45-12:30: Drafting specific UPR recommendations
- 12:30-12:45: Tools and resources
- 12:45-13:00: Concluding remarks and wrap-up
