Registration now open for the UPR25 Pre-sessions

UPR Info is organising its thirteenth round of Pre-sessions to discuss the human rights situation of the States to be reviewed at the 25th Session of the UPR Working Group (May 2016): Antigua and Barbuda, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Papua New Guinea, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Samoa, Sudan, Suriname, Swaziland, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Thailand and Trinidad and Tobago

The Pre-sessions will take place on 29 March to 1 April 2016 at the Centre International de Conférences de Genève (CICG), 17 rue de Varembé, Geneva.

The UPR Info Pre-sessions bring together Permanent Missions, National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) and Civil Society Oorganisations (CSOs) to discuss the human rights situation of States one month prior to their review at the UPR Working Group. Twelve rounds of Pre-sessions have been held since 2012 for UPR sessions 13 to 24. A total of 144 Permanent Missions followed over 700 presentations - mostly by national NGOs - on 129 countries. Almost 50 OSCs were represented during the last round of Pre-sessions, and a wide variety of topics were addressed, such as land rights, the right to privacy, women´s rights, limitations to freedom of assembly and association, LGBTI rights, the rights of asylum seekers and refugees and the rights of the child.
